Thanks to the publisher for letting me see a copy of this book.  Of course, this will be an honest review.  I requested this book via Netgalley and then, amidst the chaos of the last few years, I forgot that I had requested this book. I am now attempting to read my neglected arcs

I am late to the party.  So, I will assume that most of you know the plot.  A young  2^nd generation Vietnamese refugee, is writing to his ‘illiterate’ mother; knowing that she will never read what he is writing. The book explores their lives in; war, peace, trauma, poverty and disadvantage.   The  writing is lyrical, poignant, funny and poetic. If you have read this book, what did you think.  If not, and you like poetic writing,  then I highly recommend that you get hold of a copy.
